Guppies With Dwarf Gourami?

Hello,

I just acquired a 30 gallon long tank and I'd just like to know if one male Dwarf Gourami and a few guppies would be suitable. I've never kept dwarf gourami and a lot of information online is a bit conflicting. After I've cycled the tank I was thinking one male dwarf gourami and maybe five guppies. Just asking everyones input on this subject.

Thanks!

Should be ok. Dwarfs can sometimes be a little aggressive, if you wanted to play it safe go with honey gouramis.

It seems to depend on territory space and fish temperament. You have the space part, but fish temperament is unknown and luck of the draw. Add the guppies first to give them a foot hold. Then hope for the coolest calmest gourami

My dwarf gourami hasn’t attacked anything except some shrimp, it’s been a few weeks and he’s only killed two. Realistically they were taunting him... he’s in with neons, tetras, Cory’s, and a Betta

I have kept dwarf gourami with guppies, and had no problems, however each fish had an individual personality.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately there aren't many good fish shops near me but my local one only has dwarf gourami, I might look into the honey gouramis to see if I can find some in my area

Thanks for the reply, I will make sure to add the guppies before and maybe scout around to see if I can find a gourami that's nice enough

Also an after thought. Remember to get them setup with hiding places like plants or driftwood or something. Always nice to be able to hide from a bully
