Guppies - some are growing faster then others

This is my first time breeding...anything!
Decided to start with guppies. I got some that are 2 weeks old today. They have been in a 20G high with Gravel plants snails and shrimp.

Question...some are growing faster then others should I be concerned and remove the bigger ones?

4 week old they can start breeding?

I've been breeding guppies for 3 years now mainly using selective breeding as my method. I will try to help out. Although it isn't that hard to breed guppies.

What size tank are they in? How many males? How many females? You should have a 1:2 male to female ratio since males always try to harass females. Are you breeding for fun? I really suggest a 40 breeder since a 20 gallon will be over runned in no time.

Depending on your tank growing size defers: The guppies might not have been born at the same time. Also if you have a lot of guppies in a tank some might release chemicals which causes stunted growth. Each guppy you have should have at least a 1 gallon.

What kind of filter do you have? The gph on the filter should be 9x the size of the tank. Guppies produce a lot of waste so its good to have a strong filter. Also did you cycle your tank?

Yes at 4 weeks they can start breeding. This is why once you get fry the best way is too separate the males and females once you can identify there sex. I've had female guppies that were about only 3/4 of an inch that had fry.

Its hard to count them. Less then 20. They all look very lively.

20 gallon tank is what they are in. 2 filters (aqua clear 30 and cascade 150).

I have plenty of options so I'm not breeding irresponsibly.

I have a 37G. 2 Filters(Top Fin 40 and cascade 200) with just a common pleco and 1 male guppy. I was not sure how to move fry to another tank without causing trouble. Acclimate them? Both tanks have same levels. Temp is the same. I would only move the bigger ones? Or all?(moving the male guppy to 20 gallon once fry are gone)

Common plecos get huge and usually require a tank that is at least 4 feet! If you don't know they get over 12 inches. As for guppy fry you don't really have to acclimate them. I think your 20 gallon is already fully stock. 16 guppies is the max!

Are they all males?

I think I counted 16 or 17 fry. Male or female is hard to tell on the smaller ones. They are 2 weeks old and I want to prepare separating the females.

Pleco is going into a pond of mine once he gets bigger. Little over 3 inchs right now.

Be careful with guppies, they will literally infest your tank!! Females can have 20 fry every month!!! So I hope your prepared....

I'm hoping to catch them in time to control when I want them to breed. I am prepared with LPS, pond established, tanks if needed, and fish. So I have back up plans.

Tomorrow I'm going to spend time identifying and removing noticeable females.

You might have an easier time removing the noticeable males. They won't be able to impregnate the females until the gonopodium is fully developed anyway, and it's not uncommon for a "female" to be a late developing male.

I'm having a hard time telling. 4 or 5 of them look to have dark fins. Others still look fry like lol
