15 Gallon Tank Guppies..... My new passion!!

I have never kept Guppies... until now. I have rescued Guppies by the dozen and taken them to a friend who runs a wonderful fish store, but never had any myself, until now. I have a 15 gallon that had 3 little Endlers in it and I was looking at the LFS for some pretty buddies. Saw the male colorful guppies and fell in love. They are truly beautiful... sort of like tiny Betta fish. I have rescued females only and did not know that the males are so colorful and flashy. I have them with my little live-bearer Endlers boys and everyone seems happy. I had heard so many horror stories of folks being flooded with fry that they didn't know what to do with and consequently stayed away from Guppies.
I have fairly large fish in my large tanks, but have to say that there is a wonderful pleasure in keeping little fish. I have a 12 gallon with a school of Amanda Tetras that are so pretty and so tiny. So now I am a guppy lover!!

Oh my gosh me too! I just recently became addicted to guppies. They are so friendly and personal not to mention beautiful. Funny thing is, I was actually going to make a thread about this same topic LOL

Welcome to the addiction. I have had guppies for the last 4 years and they are one of my favorite fish, other than my cories. I have had just about every color, size, pattern and tail shape they can get. Good luck with them.

I love my guppies, it's really fun to see what the fry grow up to look like!

Just so that you are aware Guppies and Endlers will cross breed. It wasn’t totally clear to me if you have just got males with males or not so I thought I would let you know that they can and will cross breed.

I thought they were in separate tanks?

Before you know it you'll be overrun with so many guppies they start coming out of your ears. I probably have 30 fry from just the past 2 weeks. It's insane.

From the two comments I high lighted I took it as the guppies and endlers were together.

Maybe she's got all males? I'm pretty sure her Endlers are hybrids so it wouldn't matter that much.

This thread is making me want to set up another tank! Last time I kept livebearers it was Mollies. And they became too crowded. So, I have always stayed away. Hmmm, now that I have larger fish I could use the fry as food. But must resist.

Enjoy your Guppies Denise!!

I started feeding them to my blood parrots on occasion. Adding an angelfish to a live bearer tank works well for controlling population, given there's enough space to add one. They love hunting down the little fry. Sorry for thread hijacking
