I wouldn't do a GSP and an F8 in a 20 long, but you could do 1-2 F8s? I wouldn't keep them with other brackish fish though, I've heard they'll attack them.

Would a 29 work better?

I'm not sure I'd do GSPs and F8s together at all. A GSP needs a 55 gal tank minimum too, as they can get almost 7" long.

You could try a 29 gal with one F8 and some bumblebee gobies?

Don't do 2 F8s - I was mistaken before, that probably wouldn't end well.

They mainly shouldn't be together because F8s are low-end brackish and GSPs should be full marine, salt water. While every puffer is different, GSPs have a rep as being one of the more aggressive puffers. While F8s I've seen with other fish, including other F8s on many occasions, as they are supposedly one of the nicer puffer species. Now you can still get a killer, so have a backup plan.

A 20G would be fine for a F8, but like most cases, bigger is better. Plus, you have to take into consideration, puffers are messy fish. As for tank mates...eh. Usually F8s and bumble bee gobies mix well because they just leave each other alone. IMO, I would Not do mollies with your F8 because they are much faster and will out compete your puffer for food. Sadly, there are not a ton of brackish options. Lots of cool brackish fish, just tough mixing them with puffers.

Good luck and keep us updated. First puffer?

Yep first puffer I have also looked at red eyes, I'm wanting to do 2 puffers with the rooted mangrove design in 20-29G

IMO I would do 2 Figure 8's. The dwarf red eye species are very cool looking fish and quite rare here in the states. I had a male Borneo species. Not the friendliest fish though. Lorteti's are the most common, but also apparently the most aggressive. I spent almost a year trying to find an Irrubesco, then found the Borneo instead. If you ever see a Salivator grab it. They are gorgeous and are the holy grail of dwarf puffers.I have also seen videos of a red eyes with pea puffers. You would just have to get lucky though. It also may not seem like much, but since puffers are girthy, the difference between a 1" fish vs a 2.5" fish is quite drastic.

I just have the rad of a couple of puffers lurking in a sick mangrove tank

lol, well that actually have "lurker" species that you can get as well. Check out congo puffers. One could work in your 29G if you keep it FW.
