Funny Grumpy Guppy

My male guppy Shifu is one tough cookie. He has survived the ups and downs of a new tank owner. Well that strength must come from a great nights sleep. As a night shift worker I'm up at night home and I noticed that Shifu likes to dig himself into the gravel to sleep. The first time I saw this, quite frankly I thought he had passed. So I did what anyone would do, I tapped the glass and woke him up! He was furious and basically told me exactly what he thought of being awakened from his slumber. I thought this was hilarious. I'm surrounded by grumpy boys in the morning, a grumpy husband, grumpy 4 year old and now a grumpy guppy! Does anyone else have fish with funny sleep habits?

 

My new female makes a hole under the heater in the sand and sleeps there.

Are you sure that's a male? He looks almost like a she.

 

When I purchased him I was told he was a male and he does has the pointed fins under his belly. He is more brightly colored then shown in the picture. Plus he's a smaller guy, has a real Napoleon complex. He's definitely a nipper!
