Growing Snails

Lol, the title - my snails babies are steadily getting bigger - I think some of them might be jades (or blues) and some have some light and dark spotting going on where they look peppered. You can tell the goldens from the darker colors because they almost look neon! Of course my guppies couldn't be put out of the spotlight as my big yellow female dropped a number of babies (they look yellow like her, but they are about a fifth the size of my bigger babies and are having to hide in the anacharis and other floating/fluffy plants from being eaten). The zucchinI in there was put in yesterday around noon, they are chowing down!

Awesome! Thank you for sharing!

I always love the ring they leave sometimes, though mine have started eating the skin as well.

They get through the ring in pretty short time - normally only takes everyone a day and a half to finish off a pretty nice slice. I'm hoping some of them stay in the green shade they are getting - I am wondering if any of the spotted ones would stay spotted, that would be neat.

Just so you know, they can hold for about 30 days, so you may still see a few clutches to pull down.

I thank you for that info (figured it would be closer to 3 months-or so like livebearers..); I am aiming to only hatch the ones I can care for (besides, I think my betta in one tank *plus pygmy cories* and my angel in the other would find a nice snack out of the pen head sized babies that fell) - right now that is the ones that have hatched - I removed three clutches today and regrettably made sure they would not be able to hatch before throwing them away (what a sad life it would be to make it halfway and then get squished in a garbage truck!). The two clutches I left are a blue/blue and either a black/blue or a blue/gold, one being because it was almost brand new (softer and lighter colored) the other because people seem to like the blues(?). I don't know if the black/blue-blue/gold clutch will make it where it is, but I will not be able to intervene and keep it alive while at work.

I may be wrong and it may be longer, just didn't want you to be surprised if you saw a few after separating them

I jump that hurdle when I keep finding them on the underside of the hoods (I don't know what it is with the gold girl, but every single one she has laid on the hood, while my blues lay them high up on the walls - the black female I have also lays the clutches high up on the walls - I am just going to assume Cassie is trying to be overachieving *her clutch total is up to seven right now, with four hatches, two removals, and one working it's way to one of those two options lol* the only other one that has come close to that is my little black female named Faolin at three clutches that were all duds *left for near a month and no hatching, even though they were in same environment the other four hatched from*.

So far I've had four clutches hatch - one seemed like it was going to but nothing came from it. The most recent one was the blue/blue - I removed the others that way I can focus on growing the ones I have now (the blue clutch produced over 50 babies that looked like black pepper bertie botts jelly beans - so the spotted ones are most likely blue or *fingers crossed* jade). The largest of my babies (first clutch) are now roughly the size of the eraser on a mechanical pencil most of them being gold or darker colored (can't really get a good read on what color the dark ones will be, though most have lost the spotting a few still have it from the first batch). On top of that my ramshorns are developing some nice colors; I have a small group of blues, a couple leopards, some browns, and a few others (I think even one pink) - I do not know if I will be selective about them, but I might put all the blues together to aid their colors...it is just a little interesting that I haven't had to do anything for them or even make an effort and have somehow gained those colors (I think I originally got a couple on some plants I bought, but they are either clear looking or brown, so they got some messed up genetics then lol).
