Growing Bumps On My Molly!? Viral Cancer!

- hI all! I registered because I was freaking out about my fish! My lyrtail had a lump form in her middle, then another started growing much faster near her head (its only been growing two days). I looked at all the forums and everyone was like “idk, maybe someone else does...” every time! Most useless response ever! Any way I found out what it is! Idk if they are the solid or viral, but either way I think I have to flush her before it spreads Tropical Fish Disease Identification with pictures and cures.

Please don't flush your fish. It's a horrible way to die.

I'd also get more than one source before deciding the fish has to be euthanized humanely.

I decided to quarantine her. Mercy killing feels wrong inside, but someone described flushing as humane to me once : the cold water knocks them out or at least numbs them and then they get swallowed w/o being chewed...

Anyway! I’m going to treat my tank with garlic if there is a virus floating around (w/small water changes to offset microbe die off- hopefully obvious).

Looking into the disease it’s definitely what my fish has, and given there were about five unanswered posts on here with the same lumps- I figured I’d offer the clearest source for what I found. Sorry if I made your heart jump too!

Garlic isn’t a medication. It might help some to keep fish from getting sick, but once they are ill, it won’t do much.

So, it could be some kind of virus that causes cancer- in which case there's nothing you can do. It could also be something else, like a bacterial disease; if that's the case then treating with a broad spectrum antibiotic like Kanaplex may cure it. The worst that would happen is you'd be out the money for the medicine.
