Growing anubias emersed?

So i saw a youtube video by ryo watanabe where he made a bucephelandra farm and showed his anubias farm. It was a jar with soil, a plant and cling film over the top, basically dry start. I have some rarer and nice anubias that i would like to try this on to grow them faster but i have a few question...
How do you stop the temperature from getting really high in the "greenhouse", does it matter?
Will the anubias melt when i put it back underwater?
Will anubias actually grow faster in the jar?
Any tips or experience also:
I would like to try it with anubias pinto and anubias nana petite bonsai. Possibly java fern plantlets too... also in the future may do hydrocotyle japan as i hear it grows like crazy in dry start.
Thanks!

You would use vents and possibly a fan to control humidity and temperature in the greenhouse. A little warmer isn't bad depending on ambient. Into the 90s with high himidity is safe, 100 is pushing it.
That's a big maybe. Anubias are more resistant to melting than other species, I've had some that melted a little before putting on new growth amd I've had some that didn't melt at all. I should note these were petsmart products. The rarer or more exotic the plant, the more difficulty you should expect as a general rule of thumb at any rate.
They *should* grow faster in a terrestrial environment, but probably not bu much as they are just slow growing in general. Fortunately that are rather easy to propagate, but you might have to deal with some trial and error to get it right.

Hi SnookusFish ,

I've been growing a number of species emersed (emerged) for about nine (9) years now. A large number of plants including Anubias will grow emersed. Yes, Hydrocotyle tripartita (aka 'Japan') will grow emersed as well. I have my plants in an unheated garage with heat mats on a thermostat underneath for the winter months. The garage temperature hits 90+ in the summer and 35-40 degrees in the winter. The containers with the plants get down below 50 degrees. Here is my set-up. Questions? Just ask! -Roy

I've wondered this about some of the white or variegated varieties.

Thank you very much! Thats an incredible setup. Do anubias grow faster emersed for u? This makes me want to do a bowl of emersed aquarium plants.

Hi SnookusFish

My experience is that Anubias are a slow grower whether emersed or submerged. If I was to pick I would say emersed they grow faster than a tank without CO2 but slower than a tank with CO2.

For other plant species most (but not all) seem to grow faster emersed, even faster than tanks with CO2.

Here is one of my favorite Anubias; I purchased it ten (10) years ago from a hobbyist online as "Anubias barteri nana 'Micro' and it does seem to stay very, very small.
