Grindal Worms-Startup moldy

RonP

Just started Grindal cultures 3 days ago.
Worms are eating / growing..but.. white feathery mold is forming on each catfood piece, covering worms.
WhT am I doing wrong? Any way to save the worms and lose the mold?

Hi RonP,
As far as I know, from my experience with cultures.

I get the same thing but find less food will mean the worms eat the pellets faster than the mould.
Only a couple of pellets for a new culture with 4 being enough for an established culture Of thousands.
Every 3 or 4 days I toss out the uneaten food anyway and add more pellets.

When established you can feed your fish worms from the culture every 3 days so changing the pellets at the same time is no big deal. It’s all part of the routine.

Dry fish food flakes can be added if you are concerned the worms are not finding a single pellet in a new culture. I use a spray bottle to moisten the dirt and to moisten dry fish flakes.

To answer your question.
What you see is to be expected until you have thousands of worms. Replace the pellet / pellets.

Thank you.

Quick update:
Grindal factories (3) are now feeding all my tanks twice weekly.
Thanks for all advice!
