Greenish blue looking flies?

connorjs1004

Don't know how or why, but when I was feeding the tank tonight, I saw something moving above the water line and on top of the glass. I squashed the two that were above the glass, but there was at least 3-4 more that were visible in the actual tank itself. I have no idea what these are, does anyone know what they are and if they are harmful?

Kinda look like baby green midge flies.

Kinda look like baby green midge flies.
Are they dangerous to the tank?

BigManAquatics

When in doubt, remove them. Kind of surprised they haven't got ate, though

StarGirl

No not dangerous. Have you seen any funny worms?

connorjs1004

I have not noticed any, no. Are they some type of fly that starts out in a larvae form?

StarGirl

Yeah they almost look like mosquito larvae if you have ever seen those. Some are red though. I believe yours are non biting midge flies. They kinda look like a blood worm.
