Starting a new setup for the adopted fish I received last week. The original 37g is going into repair and I'm moving all it's contents to this new 29g Aqueon that I just got for $35 after tax at the Petco $1 per gallon sale.

Here's the current 37g and condition:

Also received an Eheim heater $22 and a bag of neutral silica sand from Quikrete for $5 to replace the gravel.

Also adding some natural Lake Michigan rocks to form some nooks and caves.
I'll probably have quite a few updates coming tonight as I do this move!

The fish get to see the cooler one last time! Draining the 37g then they're going in it while I move the filters and plants. I also have to move the stand to the new location in the kitchen so I can't quite get the other one filled and ready before draining and moving this 37g.

Got the tank in the new place and letting the filters run for an hour before I start dropping them in.

    Things got messy!

    Also got another Amazon order.

Got them acclimated and fed. It's almost lights out so looking a little blue in the one pic. They seem to love it so I hope they take the changes well. I know the rams and cory cats like it so far. All are eating well.

Up late testing parameters. Got 0ppm ammonia and nitrite. Then <5ppm nitrate and the pH is sitting strong at 7.8 like always from my tap.
    I need a shower and sleep! G'night!

Couldn't sleep so watching Netflix and the tank:

Your cat looks very interested in fish keeping lol watvh out for that one lol
Anyways whats the go with the green Bonsai planted thread name are you putting a Bonsai in this?

Not exactly, but basically yes. I'm going to get some driftwood and java moss(or something similar) placed in to look like a little bonsai tree growing underwater. Here's an example:
Greenbonsai also used to be my username but I recently changed it to match my Tapatalk name used on other forums.

Lookin' good GB. Love your kitties.. that grey one with the big eyes though.:)

Can't wait to see your tree! I swore I wouldn't start plants until I felt comfortable with the SW tank... then I saw some of these forest type scapes and before you know it I was buying moss.

Really excited to see this one come together! Love your rocks too.:)

Thanks! Yeah that's Simba. He's our feral born alien cat.

Having my morning cup of joe and checking the tank parameters again. Kind of expecting a little bump in the cycle since I removed all the gravel and it's a new tank, but most likely it will be fine because this filter(Fluval Aquaclear70) is way more than this tank needs. I also have the ATI Hydro-Sponge Pro II in the corner but I doubt it has any BB yet.

The fish look okay for the most part but I noticed a couple Harlequins and one of the rams have faded coloring. I'm sure they'll be fine but definitely going to keep an eye on them since their immune system may be weakened.

Got those as a gift to my gf since I've been ordering so much online for the tank lately. She's only missing one of Johanna Basford's books. She's been coloring a lot in her "Lost Ocean" book lately because of the aquariums I've been setting up this summer. It's her hobby and mine is the aquariums.

Here's a recent coral pattern one she did and her table of markers, colored pencils, calendar, and books...
She was unhappy with how the Betta on the calendar turned out but I like it. She wishes she went with more red in the middle instead of the blue. As long as I keep getting her the best markers and art supplies then I get to keep getting aquarium stuff!

    Here's this month's:

These are considered "adult coloring books". Not that kids can't but they are very detailed and intricate. My girl is in her early 30's and her friend that introduced them to her is even older so I think you're good!

They both have anxiety issues and they both say coloring these books is extremely helpful at lowering stress and worries. It's becoming pretty trendy here in the US.

I live under a rock with my fish tanks, but when i shown my gf she explained and said they are on the rise here too lol i struggle with hand writing so its not for me really but it looks amazing especially the finished one and i love the idea that its a calender you will have to share the pic of mikes kraken when its done.

Yeah the artist Johanna Basford is from Scotland so I'd imagine they're all over there. There's other adult coloring book artists but these are my girl's favorite because of how whimsical and nature themed it is.

Well, enough about her coloring! Back to the build. Just trying to get everything arranged and organized. The place was a disaster zone last night... We've decided we're going to build a curtain panel over the front to hide the supplies under the tank for now and someday I may just build my own wood cabinet.

Omg I have all of that too... unfortunately mine has taken a backseat to the 12 tanks... maybe I can get hubby to do tanks for me to color?!?!?

I like your stand. I'm setting up a 29g as well, though my cats aren't as good at supervising as yours are
