Green Water no Nitrates

Slapp

Hello,

Not no nitrates, between 0 and 5ppm. Is that enough to have green water in a 2.5 gallon?
If not what else could be causing the unbalance? It’s only a month or so old now. 5 red cherry shrimp.

What should I do to clear up the water?

It looks like my aquarium when I started cycling it. Also it could be the food you give your shrimp and turns the water cloudy. Also, It looks like algae too.

What's your light schedule? Most likely cause at this point with a new tank is too much light. Probably don't need more than 6 hours max for a bit while things get established.

Oh my I’ve been running 12 hours and not noticing. It’s in a different room than my other tanks. Thanks. I’m bringing it down to 4 for a little bit. Surprised I didn’t fry the Anubias.

Others have already gave suggestions to clear the water, but I'd like to comment on the nitrate reading. Don't forget, you can read low nitrates as a consequence of algae itself. After all, algae does consume nitrate, so it is reasonable that when you see an algae bloom, your tank is also depleted of nitrates.

Hey guys!
Just a few days of keeping the lights on less and some slow water changes have cleared up the tank well! Just some muck on the leaves to work through and a little cloudiness left.
