Has anyone seen these green spots appear on their mystery snails? If so, do you know what causes them? I seem to get them a lot on my mystery snails as they get older.
Wouldn't algae come off their shell? I've taken a soft toothbrush to it, but it just doesn't come off, and stays on the shell after death (I keep all their shells).Im guessing it is some type of algae.

It doesn't seem like it. They all seem to survive to about the one year mark and get to be about 2 inches. A lot of them die due to mantle collapses, but usually towards the end of their life span. I've always wondered if maybe it's a bruise of some sort, if that could be possible, just because it's the exact same color as their blood. Vigorous mating...being slammed up against a hard decoration or something. Are your snails dying early that have these spots ?
Here are some. I had to wet them down to be able to get the green to show up on the picI cant find anything on green spots. Do you have a pic of one of the old dry shells?
