Looks like "hole in the head", what are your water parameters?
PH HR 7.5
PH LR 6.6
NO3 5.0
Amm .5 ppm
Mind we added aquarium salt about 2 hours ago to aid swelling reduction. Our tank is 125g and we use Fluval fx4. I agree it looks like HITH! We can get some Hex Food. What about melafix too?

Water changes and salt should be enough

Wow that would be great. We just spent like $80 at pets mart getting melafix and api general cure the. Found out one GC box wasn’t enough so we haven’t used it yet. We also got a bigger aerator.

Quick question... would a 10g with no ornaments be too terribly small for a hospital tank? My sevrum is about 8”. I know she’s barely have room to swim and she’s probably get really angry at me but it’s what I have unused right now. Treating the 125g isn’t working.

10g would definitely be too small.

I figured... heading to petco today to get a 29g kit... wish they had their $1/gal sale going on right now! Should I proceed with salt in the hospital tank or general cure packets?

If the salt/water changes aren't working then switch to medications. I'm not sure which would be the most effective.

thank you for all your help!

Skidz passed away last night She was 5. She taught me a lot about HITH because it starts long before the craters show up with self isolation and not eating as usual and other things. Those “pimples” showed up and went away a couple weeks ago so I figured whatever it was was gone. After coming home from a 5 day hospital stay, well a day or so after I noticed the spots July 30 when I originally posted this thread. So many things I have learned from this I just hate it had to be my Skidz. She had a great fish personality, a little temperamental but my husband and I had gone through so much with her from her wanting to mate with Dot and bullying her (can’t mate same sex lol) so research said remove the bully. We put skidz in the plant tank not knowing plants make her mad (wondering if the sweet tooth just made her cranky). Went out and spent like $500 on a whole new set up for her. She was pretty happy and layed a bunch of eggs on the heater, silly fish! At some point after Dot had a heart attack or something (she shot all over the tank out of nowhere sideways and upside down and it was scary) maybe 6m or so down the road we upgraded our main tank and decided to put skidz back in and she did great. I used her tank for my
Crabs. Skidz did not like to be moved and yet she made it through a major upgrade from 75 to 125 last year. She thrived, or so I thought, because she went from like 6” to 10” in a year! I knew last night that the prognosis wasn’t good. Her breathing was labored and I just couldn’t get her to eat. I’m so sad she suffered. I said the “Now I lay me...” prayer for her before I went to bed.
sorry so long I got carried away.

Sorry to hear that
