I recently got a co2 system for my 40 long and along with it I got another LED light for my tank. It was one of the NiCrew LED ones from Amazon. So I have two of them (48inch) long ones, which I think would be considered high light?
I have several red plants which is why I thought I would need two light fixtures, and my plant is slowly starting to get heavily planted.
In the process of upgrading my tank, I’ve found that green hair algae and green spot algae has been slowly growing more and more day by day and my sponge filter is basically infested.
Some things I’ve tried:
- Added 5 more Amano shrimp to my 4 already
- Pump more CO2 into the tank (bordering yellow drop checker 1 hour before lights go off)
- Get more plants to combat the algae
I use NilocG Thrive and pump 4 times (1 pump per 10G it says) and do it 3 times a week. I change about 40-50% of water every Saturday.
What should I do here? I run my light 8 hours a day on the timers, which I feel like is already on the lower end and I’m not sure if I should shorten it.
