The only bad thing is that 1. it may not be aesthetically pleasing and 2. it may strangle your fish. The latter however I have never seen in any of my tanks, even when I really let it go. But that's what others have said, so thought I'd mention.

Otherwise it is good. Helps soak up excess nutrients and stuff.

If you don't mind the way it looks, it's good. Algae does much of what plants do for a tank.

I had it in one of my tanks, and I just turned the light off for a few days, and that took care of it (if you want to try to get rid of it, or it gets out of control).
