Green Bubbles On The Surface?

I have googled high and low but I can't find a single mention of this issue!! Someone recently asked for advice or insight about the green foam like bubbles on the top of her water. She recently had a green algae bloom the week before. She has an oxygen pump(I'm assuming she means air pump??) and a water filter, this tank has been established for almost 2 years and has not had this problem before. She was unaware of water parameter testing so I don't know where her numbers are unfortunately. There also seems to be an oil film on the surface.
The only thing I can guess is that something got introduced into the tank somehow..but who knows what could cause that???

The only think I could think of is that it’s some sort of weird algae...

richie.p Coptapia what do you think?

That's what I was thinking at first too, it's so crazy to me that not one person has ever posted online about this. Usually Google is my go to but this is so strange!!

Ya, I have never seen that before. I would assume it would be algae though.

Does she have live plants in her tank that could be from an actual pond that were introduced that way? or were meds used causing a different color foam when the filter and airstone agitate the surface?

There’s a film on the surface that is preventing the bubbles from popping. My best guess is that the bubbles are green because of algae coming through in the bubbles from the air stone or it’s tubing. Easily visible now that the green water bloom has gone?

Floating algae

...or that, and the surface film is keeping it there...

I see that a lot in the UK but only outside in stagnant waters and only in the summer in warm water

The surface film = floating algae. Gasses caught under it cause the bubbles
