    Habitat: open landscapes, and scrub
    Migration: Non-Migrant
    Nest: A shallow hollow in the ground, sparsely lined with grass
    Distribution: South America in open country from Brazil south of the Amazon to C.Argentina

    NOTES: Strong legs, short,thick toes, feathers on head, face, and neck, and loose shaggy feathers.
