Great neighbors!

Good morning,

I have some wonderful neighbors. We have some new folks in the neighborhood. They came down last week with some other neighbors and we met them for the first time. The lady we met came down last night carrying a big bucket. It was full of fresh yellow squash and zucchini!

She was kind of shocked to hear that I was going to feed some of the zucchinI to my fish (Pleco). I don't think she was insulted but you never know and I really don't know the people. Very friendly though I thanked her of course. I'm sure Chef will create a wonderful dish from it all (or two). I wish some of you were closer so I could share all of this. There is soooo much of it.

My Pleco will be happy for sure

Just wanted to share my good fortune. I've lived in several places over the years but nothing compares to where I live now. I know everyone on this 3 mile road. Everyone is always sharing.

good neighbors are always a plus, I almost moved to just outside of raliegh this year and it is such a difference from here in ohio, but it was weird because it seems as though everyone moved there instead of being raised there.

OMG, Ken.... you are so very lucky. The vast majority of our neighbors don't speak English (and I'm in CT), so with the language barrier, forget about making any real friends.

Next door had a rogue dentist office set up. They used a lawn chair as the patient chair and household tools to work on the patient's teeth (and yes, they had patients). When the cops busted them, they said there was blood all over the place.

The neighborhood cats, who all live outdoors, are constantly killing the birds at my feeders and annoying my three dogs.

We're the last house on a dead end street, so unfortunately, we only see the scum neighbors unless we leave our property. Although we do love the guy across the street. Older family guy. Very sweet.

So yeah, count your blessings, my friend.

Wonderful to have good neighbors!!! Our neighborhood sounds about the same as yours...but not for 3 miles!! Everyone helps everyone else if you need it...and often if you don't realize you need it!!

I am with lynda on this one (although she would hate MY outdoor cats). similar situation... I moved in my house a year and a half ago and have not even met all my next door neighbors let alone my neighborhoodconsidering how I grew up in rural and urban nova scotia I find this an intersting experience. any one who has a good relationship with their neighbors in this day and age is to be envied.

I always dreamt of having that "over the fence" relationship that my mother had with the woman next door, who was my 5th grade teacher. It went way beyond borrowing a cup of sugar, although that was always included. But people aren't the same as they were 40 or 50 years ago. We trust less. We share less. We have fences to hide what surrounds us, not as a friendly border. :'(

We're a little bit antisocial, although our neighbors are all friends with each other.

Good neighbors are definitely hard to come by. In my old home in Chicago I remember we lived next door(literally 6 feet away) from this woman who owned the corner house for close to 7 years and spoke to her probably one or two times. Today I am in a building with 3 other apartments and only talk in passing at best. They are friendly enough but the lifestyles are so off that nobody really makes it a point to stop by and say hello.....something I would really like.
