c) the cholla wood I had prior to the spiderwood because the cholla wood was causing too much debris.

I also have a piece of Cholla. First time ever for me. Put it in same time as 2nd plant.

Btw, I stopped baffling my filter with mesh and their numbers weren’t as high. I baffled again last night and this morning, they were everywhere. I think in my case, I’m seeing them because of the lack of oxygen I’m getting towards the front of the tank... I’m only assuming it’s that reason because that is the only place I see them unless they’re in the water floating around.

Funny. That is what I had the sponge on the intake for. Then I just left it off, but in the tank for extra surface area as it is a newly cycled tank.

People have these in their tanks and not even know it. It’s when you can see them that there is an imbalance somewhere... the hard part is trying to figure out what that imbalance is.

Yes, I guess. I have never noticed before on any tank. Now that we are over the sick fish and hopefully good with the others. All seem super happy. And with the algae coming along some, I will do another clean-up, water test, and keep an eye out. Thanks!

Well it's probably not much help, but mine went away with the addition of fish, so I'm guessing they got gobbled up. If you start feeding your betta less, I bet yours will disappear too!

Hope that helps in time too!

Oh btw I did post a pic. The video didn't work though so it is hard to see. They are white dots in photo but they look much smaller in real life.

I hated the cholla. It was disintegrating so fast that I just removed them. I have thick pieces of spiderwood now that is doing great. Bigfoot (the nerite snail) constantly grazes on it leaving a lot of poop behind lol.

I stopped using the pre-filter sponge because it was clogging up so I’m using a mesh intake guard that is designed for shrimp/fry... it’s helping some but wish the holes in the mesh were a bit bigger to get larger particles out and stuck into my polyfil I have in my filter media. I baffled my outflow with a plastic mesh sheet that is used for arts and crafts so the water doesn’t cause a lot of agitation and current but I have removed it for now to see if keeping just a low flow on the filter will work... hasn’t done much just yet.

I saw the photo. I can’t really tell if they’re worms/copepods, eggs or poop. If you could try taking a more clear close up photo, maybe someone tell you what yours are.

hmmm... I have a sponge with larger holes. *Wondering If instead of putting it around the intake, I could cut it and put it on the inside of the intake?* I didn't like how big it was visually, so I opted for a smaller one, but the smaller one could maybe use bigger holes like you said.

Good grief. You won't believe this. So out of curiosity I took a closer look at the tank today. Last night I did a syphon/wc. I swear it gets dirty all over again over night. Anyway, I looked closer and sure enough I saw those things again now at the bottom. They honestly look like small brown bugs hopping around? I did't look with magnifying glass yet. THEN, upon inspecting them, didn't I notice white things on my glass?! Seriously. I am going to up my syphoning schedule. Do you think it's okay to at least syphon more and maybe then put some of the same water back in the tank after the dirt falls to the bottom? I am worried about adding fresh water constantly. Plus more work.

Also my husband said I should put the green machine in and that would take care of them all? Of course kids love them all. ;P Anyone think the UV would take care of the critters?
