Saw a UNS 3N on the FB marketplace for $50 ($10 discount, eh).
I messaged the seller to ask about the condition and feel out if maybe he'd negotiate. He got back to me saying it's three months old and he'd sell me the tank, twinstar light, (msrp $115) and Shiruba canister filter (also $115) for $160.

That's a three month old, barely used, $290 setup for $160. After shipping and taxes I'd pay $300+ for it all new.

I only wanted to see if I could get a nice tank to upgrade my low grade RCS for like $40. Now I'm trying to justify an attempt to get him down to $125.

Anybody in NYC with room for another tank? Buy this before I do, please! Berryblue save me from myself

That's more than three times the budget you have. Just let go. If I got 50% off on a Ferrari, I could still not afford it.

Good advice, but if you could buy a ferarri for half off and just didn't need to, would that change things?

Goodwill, if you have one in your area is a good place to keep a check. Near me there was a 125g marine setup, with light, filter, RO unit, powerheads, the entire deal was $60. Unfortunately I had absolutely no where to put a tank that size at the moment. It also hurt my soul.

omg don't give me another place to incessantly cruise for gear I don't need! I'm already on craigslist and the FB marketplace every day.

Thank you for the support lol. I am going to stay strong and remind myself that though it is a wonderful price, I am at max capacity right now and need to get my ducks in a row in my high tech tank and my pico reef before i upgrade my shrimp. They neither know nor care that they're living in a crummy plastic hex tank that i got for three bucks years ago, before I learned about Takashi Amano.

I swear to god, trawling the web for a hot deal on an aquamaxx 22 bookshelf tank is going to cost me more in the long run...
