Gravel vac?

HI guys I have been looking at this power gravel vacuum on eBay, Amazon, it's 10$ and apparently it does the job pretty well. Has anyone used this here?

Yup, used something similar. It's worthless when using the filter bag. The power is not necessary. A regular gravity vac will do the same job. I prefer the Python Clean and Fill system.

I'm using a gravel vac, from petsmart. Works well so far. Gets out a lot of dirty waste in the substrate and is easy to clean. Haven't had issues with the fish (though they do get curious when I use it to siphon water for my PWCs). My pearl gourami swam up it once while it was siphoning. . . gave it a little shake and she was out. No harm done. lol

Thanks for the replies guys, I think just for the shipping cost ill go with a simple siphon vac, I just thought that the power one would possibly be easier to store thanks again!

I recently purchased one from LFS and I love it. I still have my siphon vac and use it during water changes. But during the week(since I'm OCd) it allows me to clean any fish waste, scales, small plant debris that may be stuck in the gravel or corner without needing to setup a dump bucket for the water and then treat fresh water to refill tank.

So is it necessary? No

Is it convenient? Absolutely

just an update, I have been using this vacuum almost twice a week and I love it. I have to replace the little filter bag though as it is becoming black from my gravel coloring!
