Grand Canyon trip

Went out to California on business, stopped at the Canyon on the way back. It was mind blowing. However I was almost unlucky with the timing. When we got there the canyon was basically in total cloud inversion, which apparently to this level is only a once or twice a decade kind of thing. Cool to experience but almost made me miss the views. Was still a bit hazy and had low hangers after it cleared but overall I'm glad it cleared enough to see. I shot a lot with my neutral density filters, probably to much....I think some are to dark and wish I shot more lighter but not bad overall. Some are sunset, some sunrise, some after the sun was up. Mixed bag. Guess I have to make another trip and hit some other cool spots along the way!

EDIT: Hate how Fishlore shrinks my s. Check it out on Flickr if you want to see larger.

This is the way it looked after the really really foggy day, still cloud inversion going on but not a total fog out like the day before. Literally couldn't see 5ft in front of you, glad we waited it out!

Left the people in that last one, shows some scale.

And I guess a couple of "selfies" lol

Here are a few from around San Fran(On the way as well) I've edited so far.

Great job. Here is a little hint to make a picture even better. Don't center. If you off center things people eyes will wander but if you center they stay in the center.

Never been there! I'd like to go at some point. I actually keep a document on my desktop with my "bucketlist" places to visit. Checking them off slowly, problem is once you go you always want to go back!

All personal perspective Depends on what's in the for me, some things just don't sit well offset....in my eyes at least. Sometimes its just to much dead empty space for me. Some do.

nice! the clouds in the very first photo make it seem kinda eerie. You need to go back west and check out YellowStone one day.

Aw, man. I wanna go so baaad!

I've been twice -- once when I was about 4 or 5 and once when I was in middle or high school. We actually hiked all the way to the bottom the first time, and I nearly got myself drowned in the river that runs through the campground we stayed in at the bottom. The water was so nice and cold after all that walking! ;D

It completely blows the mind, though, doesn't it? It's like standing at the edge of the world.

It is mind blowing, pictures never do it justice at the vastness. I want to go back west. Infact I'm trying to lay out a route to hit all the spots I want to now, the trip won't happen any time soon but It is in the process. Among other places in the world.....I have a big bucket list to check off.

Slug, great pics!! based on the pic of the Joshua tree, looks like you stopped somewhere in So Cals high desert. Love the San Fran wharf sign, we always eat at the Franciscan that's a stones throw away from that sign, great view of Alcatraz from there. Thanks for the great shots of the Grand Canyon, to think, it all started with a little water

Thanks! Oh we didn't stop HAHA I just shot on the go out of the van window. I've been there before though with the military and always loved those trees, saw this big one coming up fairly alone and wanted to try and get a shot of it!

The Wharf was great. Touristy but fun. Ate lunch and was entertained by the bushman scaring folks walking by, was excellent because I had seen his videos on youtube and they cracked me up for years.

To cheesy? To CSI Miami looking? Was just having some fun in photoshop.

Here are some I turned Black and White as the guy traveling with me was interested in some black and whites to hang on his wall in a room he is re-doing.

Just a normal color one here
