Are any gouramis suitable for a 15 gallon tank?
Only one that would work is a sparkling gourami. Sent from my iPhone using Fish Lore Aquarium Fish Forum
Why not a honey gourami? Even if it was the only fish in the tank?
Imo a honey gourami would be ok in a 15 gallon with a school of small fish such as ember tetras
I second the honey gourami - small and peaceful! I would also suggest a single dwarf gourami - with no other fish in the tank. DGs are max around 2" like the honey, and I think they would do okay solo in a 15 gal. Others might disagree, but I think it can be done and they stay healthy!
What are the dimensions of the tank?
Standard 15 gallon is 24x12x12; I am unaware of any other 15 gallon shapes. There are a great number of Gouramis that could be kept in a 15. I like Pseudosphromenus dayi, but it's almost impossible to find these days, and Ps. cupanus isn't much easier. Any of the Trichopsis species or Licorice Gouramis (Genus Parosphromenus) would fit, though the latter are very tricky to care for. As mentioned, Trichogaster chuna and lalia will fit as well.
There's also a 15 gallon column style tank I believe. I was wondering if this was a standard or a column or something else.
