Gourami Growth

    Hello members!

3 days ago I noticed my Gourami had a growth on its side.
Since then it has gotten absolutely nasty looking, and much larger.
Best described as a fleshy flower that appears to have broken through the skin.
Everything else about his/her behaviour is normal.

Not having much hope this can be treated, so am more interested in what the condition could possibly be.
    Parasite? Infection? Tumor?

    Cheers

I'd say it looks more like a tumour grown through the skin. Lymphocystis is more on the skin itself I think (and is more whitish to me).

Don't think there is much you can do (sorry).

Thank you both for your reply.
A strange twist of events...a day after posting I was very surprised to discover the huge growth was gone!!
I assume it fell off, but it could not be located in the tank.
Nearly a week later my gourami only has a faint scar where the growth was (see photo).
    Totally bizarre.
    He/she is a real trooper.
