Gourami discoloration

One of my dwarf gouramis started with a few dark spots of discoloration just on one side. After a few days, discoloration has spread, but still just one side. That fish has slowed down a bit and maybe not eating quite as well as usual, but still eating and swimming ok. Other fish in tank have been great. Only other thing I noticed was for 2 days, 2 other fish were nipping at this one's side, but that seems to have stopped. Wondering if the discoloration is symptom of sickness? What can I do?
I have a picture but can't see how to post it.
Thanks so much!

Thanks for the reply, Platylover!
I have a 10gal tank
6 fish total: 2 dwarf gouramis (1 powder blue, 1 neon), 2 paleatus cory catfish, and 2 golden panda mollies
pH 7.4-7.6 (checked with normal and high range solutions). comes out of tap high.
ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 20-40
temp 78 Fahrenheit with use of heater
tank cycled prior to adding any fish
hanging filter
set up with the 2 catfish and 2 mollies 6/2/16 and added the 2 dwarf gouramis 6/11/16.
I hope you can see the picture below. It's a bit foggy because I battle algae, even with water changes at least once a week- I think it's because it gets too much natural sunlight (and I'm pretty sure I was overfeeding, which I've corrected)
I just read about Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus. I wonder if that could be it? The other gourami seems totally fine and we got them at the same time in the same tank from the aquarium shop. If that may be what's happening, do I need to get the sick one out of the tank?

Thanks!

You've got some stocking issues which could be why they are picking on him, DG need a 20+, I don't know what type of catfish you have, but most need at least a 20+, and mollies need a 29+. I'd do a daily 50% waterchange for the next few days to lower the nitrates down, they sent bad, but at the high end. Ideally they should be in the 10's.
That is strange... You said it was where they where biting him? I'd say it is irodvirus, unfortunately there isn't anything you can really do if it is. el337, what do you think?

Sorry about your gourami. I'm not very familiar with diseases but it's possible it's iridovirus because of those lesions. How long have you had him? If it is iridovirus, I would isolate him as I've read it's contagious.

Are you sure it's not an injury from the other DG? It's a pretty bad idea to keep two males together especially in that cramped of a tank size. I'm afraid the nipping and aggression from the other fish will get worse if he becomes more ill. I'd definitely get him out of there asap.

Hold on for more responses from someone that may be able to identify what it could be.

Hard to say cause the symptoms are so different but big chance (certainly in blue colormorphs). Think it is too big to be caused by another, thought it could have been the start of an infection. It breaks down the fish immunesystem and makes it vunerable for all kind of disease.

Thank you all for the input! Today was the first chance I had to do a water change, so did 50% as suggested, and I will do as frequently as I'm able. I got a better look at the gourami, and the darkened area is actually because the scales are off! The area from the pic is now slightly larger. In the same area on the other side, some scales seem to be shredding a bit now too. Fins are in good shape. I don't see any redness in the bare area- just grey looking. I haven't seen any further aggression from the other fish, so doesn't seem like it's from pecking, but is that possible? Any other thoughts/ suggestions?
Thanks all again for your help!

I don't know what sex the 2 gouramis are. How can I tell? Do I only need to worry about aggression if I have 2 males?
Thanks!
