HI guys, ok. I got the GH&KH kit but, I have no idea what they mean for the color levels?? It says after each drop you shake vial and when turns from Orange to bright yellow, you get your results..hmm, mine never turned to Orange at all and then while still being clear after 5 drops, went to a light yellow. The other says to get it to a green. But what level green??????? I got a very very light green, so do I stop then...? No color chart at all. I'm either really stupid or very confused. I hope not the first? Anyone have experience with reading their levels of gh&oh from papI kit? Ty for any help. By the way, the title should say API test kit. But my keyboard kept changing it. Sorry all. Rhonda

I had the same problem lol. No worries, you get used to it. Basically you add a drop and shake the vial after each drop until it changes color, then how ever many drops it took to change color, that would be your GH/KH. Keep adding it until it changes, odds are it’s higher than 5.

Hi, ty for replying. But how dark should the color be? Or should I say "the transparency of the color because when I reached green, it was extremely light. And so was the yellow, almost see through. So I just wasn't sure if it should be more opaque? Ty Rhonda

Doesn’t matter how dark, just as long as it changed from the original color.

It’s important you have a white background for those tests. Don’t shake the tubes like you do for ammonia or nitrite. Just invert then a couple times. They both subtly change colors, but when you look at them under good lighting and a white background, it’s pretty obvious when they change. It’s possible if you have really hard water that it’ll take 10+ drops.

The color chart should be on the back of the instruction pamphlet.

Hi, there is no color chart on mine. Just a drop chart, how many drops = results supposedly. Ty for reply.
