Got new cories today!

Was out of town today and went to the LFS and saw they had 4 albino corycats! I bought them all and acclimated them for an hour floating the bag adding a bit of tank water to the bag every 15 min. Felt bad for them cuz they were cooped up in that bag for 1 1/2 hour! They are now in the tank and seem a bit freaked out swimming up and down, then skimming the bottom. It's a 36g cycled tank with sand and 2 guppies and 5 Cherry barbs. Just did a PWC yesterday. Any pointers on keeping these guys happy? I will be getting more Cherry barbs and Corys very soon. I was so excited to get them that I forgot to pick up catfish food and I can't drive back but will order some from Amazon. But given the holiday I am not expecting delivery till late next week. I have other foods like betta pellets. Dial a betta food. Tetra Fish flakes. NLS small fish sinking pellets, omega one super color flakes. Will they be ok eating any of these before their food arrives? How do I get it to them without the other fish eating it all? Anything I should watch for re their behavior? They are cute little guys!

Congrats on the new corys!

It's normal for corys to glass surf when added to a new tank. They should settle down in a couple of days. I'd definitely get a couple more cory friends for them but just make sure they're the same species. You can get the bronze or green color variety of the same aeneus species.

As for the diet, those NLS sinking pellets should be fine for now. If you can, get some quality shrimp pellets, catfish sticks/wafers and live/frozen foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, daphnia, tubifex, etc.

I feed flakes for my other fish on the days I feed shrimp pellets and catfish wafers. On 2 different days, I'll feed the NLS Thera A+ pellets which everyone gets. On frozen food day, I'll mix half a cube of brine shrimp and half a cube of bloodworms since everyone seems to have their own favorite. If you see the corys are not getting their share, you can always feed them after lights out however I never had an issue feeding them this way. Everyone is front and center when they see me, including the corys, when it's feeding time in the morning. It's pretty comical.

Thanks for the info! I ordered some wafer and shrimp pellets and it will be here Wednesday. I have been enjoying the activity in the tank! But they are going to need to rest! They seem to be thoroughly enjoying the current!

Thanks Alison! You were right! They are very eye catching against the black sand and black background! They are busy playing in the current across the tank this morning! They really seem to enjoy doing that!
