I got her today and acclimated her for an hour (drip acclimate). she's now in the 10 gallon quarantine tank. she is unbelievably cute and I can't wait until she gets to meet Pumpkin. I don't know her actual gender but I decided female bc I wanted her name to be Iris. Pumpkin and Iris. Ill get some pics tomorrow.

Very nice looking Kirin! Lots of pink and blue. I actually think it is a male but it is difficult to sex parrots without venting.

You don't know what the Cirque du Soleil is!?!

Uh... how to explain it. It is basically a show which is like a play in that it depicts a story. It was made by the French. It has different performers doing different things like acrobats and silk dancers. Just go to Youtube and look up Cirque du Soleil. Quidam is a good play to look up.

Perhaps a mod can move this from the American cichlid section and over to the hybrid area......

That is one gorgeous fish! What's the behavior like? Aggressive? Peaceful?

And where on earth did you get it....... me want one! LOL

I got it from petzone on aquabid. I would say theyre pretty peaceful although mines not an adult yet. the only time he'll act a little aggressive is when you add new fish but even then hes not too bad. he doesn't mess with any of the fish though, but theyre cichlids and should be treated as cichlids. I keep him with a blue gourami, a blood parrot (who he stalks, I think he loves her, but she don't love him haha), congo tetras, senegal bichrs, and a bristlenose pleco.

I was wondering if one would be a good mix with my 3 BP's.

definenelty these go great with blood parrots. according to rogue and other online sources bps treat them like family.

Kirins get along fairly well with BPs. However, they are half Flowerhorn so you do need to be on the lookout for excessive aggression. Usually the behave well with BPs because other BPs can beat them up lol. However, they can cross breed if you have a fertile male Kirin, not uncommon, so if you do notice them breeding make sure you take the eggs out each time because the Kirin will be very protective of his eggs.

I wish I could show yall how cool he looks. He has speckles of blue on his body and hes a dark blue/black then he has a pink belly. I'm pretty sure hes male. His rays(I think that's what theyre called) are really elongated. Here's a pic but its hard to capture his true beauty. He kinda reminds me of a jd.
