Before, he had one kind of skinny tall plant and a neon cave. Today, me and my GF picked out another live plant for him. It looks kind of like an Amazon sword, but with white stripes. It's called "white ribbon".....it looks neat!

We had an interesting time getting it in. It was one of those gel based bottoms and a bunch of white crystals were all over the tank. Didn't expect that! Got it all out, just in case he tries to eat it. I'll get some pics on here later tonight of how it looks in there.

Sounds like fun!

I'm going to go back and feed the betta's in a little while, will get a pic of the tank when I'm there. The new plant really adds a lot to the tank!!

Oh I LOVE that plant!! I will search tomo. Lovely tank set up btw! Clean and simple but spot on for a betta! I have too much gravel stuff in mine I think!

Yes, shift was 100 miles an hour from 7:30 am until 9 pm. Many poorly patients, wards needing beds moving!! YEEAAAHH i'm off tomo, will buy plants and vitamins for Flambo and groom my scruffy horse and sleep!!!!

So is that betta Andre? How many do you have now?

Thanks for the compliments! I've noticed that it is SO much easier to keep things clean with less substrate.

Yep, that is Andre....he's one of two bettas I have right now. Spazz (female) and Andre. Got Andre a few weeks after Ricktavious, the first betta I had, died after a year or so with me Still miss the little guy, but Andre has really helped me move along.

Pretty plant. The only problem is that it is NOT aquatic, but a terrestrial plant called a Dracaena.

It will rot in your aquarium after awhile, so keep an eye out so you can remove it.

Stupid Petco sold it as an aquatic...........figures!

How long will it last in there?

I see these plants sold all the time for aquariums in petstores and it really annoys me!

The dracaenas do last longer submerged than most terrestrial plants, but I'm not sure how long since I never used them.

Don't quote me, but they might last a month before drowning and starting to die.

Really, you should take it out and plant it in soil and get a real water plant, like an easy-care Java fern, instead. Dracaenas are lovely houseplants.

yea.. we bought some of those at petco too back when we got our first betta and his tank (along with betta bulbs and other plants that all ended up being a waste of ). They did last a long time (about 8 months) but eventually started to come apart and they naturally never grew any.

Oh Michelle. Am so jealous. Am on a tank ban! Strictly prohibited from buying another tank, ever. Man it feels harsh.

Glad to hear they last awhile. I'm REALLY tight on money right now, so don't want to buy another plant in a month, haha!

Rickta, i'm glad Andre helps, the loss of a pet is horrid. Shame about that plant!!

Laure Anne I CAN'T wait!! Flame definitely needs a new one, he's out grown his and I want to try to nip the finrot in the bud asap! Spot is in the thrown together tank that I bought in a panic when I rescued him without a home for him!! I will then get another girl to live in Flambo's old place!!!

Just a bump up......Andre is starting to get used to his new plant, he swims through the leaves of it a lot more now, and also circles the plant holder itself somewhat. I love watching him swim through plants, he's so cuteO0
