Got a new puppy!!!

If you haven't signed up for any puppy socialization/play times yet, I really encourage that. What's great, is that they are supervised by a trainer. The ones I've been to, the trainer will encourage owners to let the pups sort out little scuffles themselves, but also point out if something is going too far and how to recognize that and deal with it without instilling fear. Sometimes that repeated reinforcement by an experienced person is just what's needed to be able to apply concepts in your day-to-day life.

It's so cute! Is it a lab? It'll be really crazy for a few years... ours is, except he ate something from the neighbor's trash (I think) and he's been throwing up today Otherwise he's really sweet, love to chase birds, loves to chase rabbits even more because they can't fly away, and (most of all) loves to run away on a feild trip to the neighbors, and visit his girlfriend who hates him and eat trash (yum!) But he loves me most of all, because I always let him sit in my lap, since we got him. I love him too, and he's starting to get less crazy now.

Don't cave, don't cave! When I move in with my friend, I'm gunna have to teach her how to ignore puppy eyes LOL My dogs once suckered half a 3 gallon mixing bowl of pop corn from my sister

Darling pup! How old is she?

Poor baby... she's probably accustomed to being snuggled with her sibs at night. Can you put her crate near your bed so she can smell you, see you and know she's not alone?

My dog slept with me every night when I first brought her home. Once she'd been here for a week or so she began choosing to sleep on the floor. At 8 years old she still sleeps on the floor on her own bed... she waits for me to cover her with a blanket in the winter.

I ended up going out to her cause I thought she might be hungry. She was! I fed her and took her outside, but now she still crying. She should calm down soon.

She's a chocolate lab. 6 and a half weeks old!

She's just not used to being a lone. Imagine all you ever know being taken away from you! She'll get used to it soon, though

Yeah. My other dog was the same way when we got him.

She's finally settling down I haven't heard her for a few minutes.

I'm definitely going to have to get her some chew toys this weekend. She just wants to chew on EVERYTHING. Especially my feet!

NylaBones and those fake PVC sort of bones are good. The ridges, or insides, can be filled with peanut butter to reinforce what it good to chew on, and what's not

Try wrapping a warm 2 liter bottle in a blanket. It'll mimic the body heat from her brothers/sisters and keep her calmer...at least theoretically. Some dogs just don't like their crate.

My mom is gonna stop and get a chew toy on her way home from work today. I'm gonna go to the pet store this weekend and get some more stuff.

Last night Sasha apparently started barking again at 1 in the morning and my mom couldn't get her to stop, so she took her into bed because she had to get sleep.

I'll try the 2 litter bottle thing. Sounds like a good idea.

What a face! She is too gorgeous. I think labradors are intentionally created as the most adorable pups because they need to be. They're about the naughtiest, so without those looks we'd not be able to grit our teeth and take a deep breath for the first 2 years of their life until they finally act normal

Boy do I know what you are talking about!! Labs need lots of attention, lots of play time and plenty of human interaction. My current lab is 11. She chewed on furniture, shredded feather pillows and other horrid things when no human was around to watch her every minute. Took her over 6 years to calm down.

Funny she knew it was wrong because she always gave herself away. Just had to find it.

Wow, I'm glad my Lab mix was never like that! She only ever ate one shoe. But she didn't like to be in pen in the back yard when we weren't out there with her. She'd climb the fence (just that green plastic chicken wire stuff), and then go sit by the back door looking cute, hoping to be let in XD

She really is the 'perfect' dog. Knows when to be playful (she doesn't really have a crazy side), and she knows when its time to be quite. Listens to every word I say, and picks up on very subtle cues. My Rott mix is another question. He's eternally puppy LOL Love my puppies to bits =3

We had to keep her locked in the house. A 6 foot fence couldn't contain her!! We now have a bare room for her. That's where she sleeps and where she drags her toys.

Of all the dogs I have had over the years, this one has definitely been the most challenging.

Puppies are so adorable! Love them at this age.

We used to have a Chocolate Lab that was like that. At 11 months old, she could jump our 6ft privacy fence from a stand still. We had 4 dogs at the time, and they'd stay out side when we weren't home (the Chocolate Lab and the Rott mix would get into all kinds of trouble when left alone in the house >.<). Theres a shed that makes up part of our fence, and we'd come home to Kisa just laying on top of the shed.

Just laying there.

She'd see us pulling in, and she'd jump back down inside the fence, and wait for us to go out back and let them in. Its like, really, dog?

The best thing to do was stand out on the front side walk and call her name XD

"Kiiiiisaaaaaaaa!"

*head pops over fence*

"Kisaaaaa!"

*head pops over fence*

Its funny that she never tried to leave the yard, even though she knew she could XD

Pit Bull puppies? Now thats face to die for! Though I must admit, there's close tie between Pit Bull puppy faces, and the cute, soft face of a Lab X3

More advice on chew toys- Mondo chews up everything we give him- toys that have guarantees to last a while only survive 2 minutes. Mondo loves his kong though, it lasted him a while. We got him a nylabone last Christmas and he likes it, but not the same way he liked the kong. Just make sure you get the extra strong kind, and go a size bigger than you would normally choose. Wiping a little bit of peanut butter on the inside keeps them happy, until they learn how to get it out super fast. The kong lasted at least 6 months of intensive chewing before it broke then got lost.

Poor Mondo's still sick, but he ate some food today. Now his eye's swollen and pink where it would normally be white, so we're taking him to the vet tomorrow.

A lady told my once that she fills her dogs Kong with peanut butter, breaks up jerky treats, stuffs them in the peanut butter, and puts the whole lot in the freezer. She says her dog loves it, and keeps him busy for hours.

My jack russel is the same way with toys. We hadn't gotten him a single toy yet that he hasn't shredded in minutes.

I think Labs are quite competent destroyers of All Things. I'm sure they could demolish houses, excavate at ancient dig sites, and tear through Kevlar.

Ever had 4 young dogs get into 5 pounds of gourmet coffee? Talk about destruction! Quite honestly surprised, looking back, that we didn't come home to a few dead dogs... But talk about destruction!!! @.@

By the time get got home, they were completely crashed XD The house was destroyed, and there was coffee-poo all over the floor. 3 of the dogs were a year and half and under *eye twitch*

Over 300 pounds of gourmet coffee'd puppies in an 1100 square foot house.

Dear God o.o'
