HI all! So some of you may know that I have been wanting to upgrade my african cichlids to a 40 gallon breeder for a while. The biocube they are in now while it is 30 gallons is more tall than wide or long so it isn't a great setup for them. Anyway you all know where this is going I got a (used) 40 gallon breeder tank with equipment as a early christmas present. The only reason I got it early is because the gifter wanted me to go along and inspect the tank to make sure its ok. It was and it is currently sitting in the fishroom. I do plan to set it up tonight and it will be one heck of a process. Here is what I have to do as in order to make room for the tank I need to move and get rid of my two betta tanks but i'm not getting rid of the bettas.
Basically the cichlids in the biocube are going into the 40, the goldfish in my 29 is going in the biocube, and I have two bettas so for now one betta will be moved into the 29 and the other will stay out however I am going to try to build a divider for the 29 so both bettas can be in the 29 (1 in each side). And divider recomendations are welcome
To insta cycle I plan to move all the bacteria (filter media, rocks, decor, ect.) into the 40 gallon breeder, the media from the goldfish tank will go in the biocube, and the media from the two bettas 10 and 5 will go in the 29 (and I will probably throw some other media in as well). I will post pics probably tomorrow so you can see the tank build.
