R.I.P Finny...

This morning just before I left for work, I had to put little Finny to sleep. He is my long finned danio that got stuck in my filter in January for hours, survived, grew his tail back after it fell off and generally made a miraculous recovery!

He hadn't eaten for weeks, got a sore on his side in the last week that would not go away and eventually looked to be open. Melafix did not help, he must have been too far gone... When he swam, his back end was low down. This morning, he was lying on the bottom of the little baby nursery I had put him in for now so he could be with his friends at the end. He got up to swim a couple of times but went down to rest for a long time soon after each swim. It was clearly difficult for him.

He is in a better place now and not suffering. His time had come, and it was sad as he has been through so much, but I wasn't letting him slowly decline and starve to death. That would have been cruel to him.

Have fun up there little guy! Your friend Seville is waiting (they were good friends...)

What a tough decision to make Sometimes the hardest decisions are what is best though. I'm sure he would be thankful that you did not allow him to suffer. RIP Finny
