Good thermometer?

Any old glass thermometer is ok or are there accurate thermometers without the risk of cracking and leaking mercury into the water. Thanks. I was not sure where to put this so I figured this would be an ok place to try.

 

new thermometers don't use mercury. I would upgrade if you still have them

It's my understanding that thermometers these days are alcohol based and not Mercury as JaySee has stated. They have to be aquarium safe or they would not be able to sell them.

I use the economical ones below:

I use the cheap glass ones that stick to glass w/ suction cups. Work great.
