20 Gallon Tank Good temperature for community tank??

HI guys!

So I’ve recently done some tank rearranging. I currently have a 20 gallon tank with one clown pleco, some snails, one male dwarf gourami and 15 male guppies. I know the guppies are a lot, but I recently lost an entire tank to a bad infection and had to tear down the whole tank down, so I had to evacuate the guppies that were in there. They’ve been in for a little over a week and the water quality has seemed fine.

But my questions is, what would be the ideal temperature for everyone in this tank?? I used to have a school of 6 black neon tetras in there, but I rehomed them because I figured they’d be happier with more tetras and less guppies, and I would be happier with more guppies. When I had the tetras, guppies and gourami all in together I was told by someone on another post of mine that I “need to watch who I put with who,” and that my temperature was all wrong. It was at 74 degrees, and is now at 76 and no tetras. Is 76 an appropriate temperature? I wanted to know if that person was right and I was making a mistake by just going by the 72-80 that they show in the pet stores. Thanks!!

76 should be fine. All my tanks are 76-77 range.

I have an entire fishroom of guppies being raised at about 70 71f Sometimes 68 69 at night. Tropical fish can adapt to lower temperatures if it is done gradually. They are cold blooded creatures and don't feel "hot" or "cold"
If your looking for an "ideal" temperature, id say there isn't one. For me its impossible to heat 24 tanks with individual heaters, so I just do the best I can do with a space heater in winter. They can adapt to lower temperatures no problem.

Great to know! Yeah everyone has always done fine, but that comment I got seemed pretty upset about my temperature so I was worried they might not be doing okay. My gourami is spunky and and the guppies play all the time, so I think everyone’s happy

Seems to me some people tend to be sticklers about what an individual fish requires. However none of these fish have ever been in their native habitat. Temperature and ph isn’t as critical as the changes being gradual. These little guys and gals adapt to the environment they are in.
