Would it be a good/bad idea to put an empty 10 gallon outside during the day only, 1/4 full and let java ferns and ghost/amono shrimp live in it? I would like to know since the forecast for the next week is for nice warm/sunny weather.

I think it would be ok. Keep an eye on the temperature, and make sure its covered so hungry animals can't get your poor little ones!

Thanks, it is near the house and it faces south, so it only gets some direct sun for a few short hours and then it gets shaded by the house. I went and bought 3 more amono shrimp for it and a cover that they use for reptiles and it should do fine. It is so neat watching those little shrimp zooming around in the tank looking for goodies to eat and fight over.
