Goldie Advice

Hi, I would like a little advice on my comet goodie please.
I have a 30 gallon tank with one comet, one oranda goodie and a couple of minnows.
Everything in my tank seems fine, clean clear cycled water, and the fish seem fine and happy.
My comet though every once and a while will do a stringy white poop.
He seems fine in himself and is acting normal, and will do a normal poop, but once in a while it is light and stringy, could this be parasites?

Overstocked.
Comets need 100+ gallons, or a large pond. They can reach large lengths that can be too large for aquariums.
Oranda might be fine in that tank, but how large is he?

Minnows shouldn't not be with the goldfish, it'll just overstock it more.
Rehoming your goldies, or finding someone with a pond would really help you here.

I get it that there are many folks who don't realize their goldfish tanks are overstocked.
But it's disappointing to see people come to this site and ask a specific question and just be told "Overstocked". Or told they should only have their fish in a pond.

The reality is that goldfish are sold and given away as pets.

At very least we could try to help the OP with their immediate problem/question before telling them they shouldn't even have their animal.

OP, I'm no goldie expert, so I actually can't tell you if you should be concerned or not, but my goldfish occasionally does similar, if that's any consolation.

Sorry for
The typo. above one of my friends has a pool
In his gradge it's about 6.5 feet diameter 3.5 feet down he has a commet in that. There's a100g filter and pool sand and
Gravel and pool sand on the bottom with some Anubis and crypt. As what
As a heater for winter. It's s stock d with to fan tails and a comet in it costed around him around a hunderd a shed works to I hope you don't give them up that would be a shame.
I think that's a good option

Oh and menards has plastic like containers for Goldie's. They work to!

Sometimes it's hard to hear but very important, overstocking can cause so many issues within an aquarium. When some fish are rehomed and stocking is good all the problems can and may go away. Some people come on this forum and post a thread I have 3 comet goldies in a 20 gallon why are they sitting on the bottom, well only answer is overstocking issues , not enough room, not enough oxygen, most likely pooe water quality ect..

For the OP your oranda will be okay in a 30 gallon but not the comet they really do need ponds.

It's nice to see someone doing something for the comet. Just remember there's always little kiddy pools for cheap. And petco is having there dollar per gallon sale you could get a big tank for half the price.
