Hi, just wanting some advise and confirmation on what I believe my new goldfish to have the start of ich.

And how best to treat it?

Regards

welcome to fishlore. I can't see it, where are you looking?

ick is dangerous to a fish obviously, but it is super easy get rid of and in general it takes a long time for it to kill the fish. lots of people act like you need to act immediately, but you have lots of time. use aquarium salt, its very basic and it will do the job. you can use the brand API or Frits aquatics to get it if you don't have any.

Hi!

Your goldfish looks like its in rough shape. I can't see the ich in the pictures but does it look like the fish has been sprinkled with grains of salt? If so, it is ich.

The best treatment for ich, in my opinion, is a medication containing malachite green. Its the most effective in wiping out ich quickly from my experience. However, its important that your water stays very clean when treating with any medication, otherwise adverse reactions can occur.

Lastly, ich isn't typically a problem seen in healthy fish in good conditions. Poor water quality and stress are the two main factors that cause an inch infection to arise. In order to determine what caused your fish to get sick, could you please fill out the emergency template? Thank you!

I hope this helps and please feel free to ask any additional questions you may have.

What are your water parameters? That will help us determine the root cause. In the meantime, hitting him with some salt treatment can't hurt.

i'm having trouble seeing ich. i do see fin rot, and possibly internal parasite (long stringy poo)

you are probably right about the fin rot, but not so much as internal parasites. the poop looks like a healthy orange color and the length of it doesn't really conclude that there are. although it is pretty suspicious lol
