HI guys am new to keeping fish and need some help from someone in the know.
My 2 common goldfish are new and I have had them 1 week and in this time they have started developing white marks/scales on there sides and due to the time frame am worried about this I do not no if this is a simple colour change or the scale is missing ect I have a total API test kit and all is normal for goldfish apart from ammonia but is dropping and after looking around found this is normal for new setups.
Any help would be great

While it is "normal" to have an ammonia reading in a new tank, it's still very hard on the occupants. The scales turning white may be the first signs of ammonia burn. I would recommend a 50% water change with a good ammonia neutralizing conditioner like Seachem Prime. Water changes should be done with this conditioner every other day until your tank cycles as the neutralizing will only last about 48 hours. After ammonia readings drop & you start showing nitrites it's even more important to neutralize them as they are more toxic then ammonia. Prime will detoxify both of them.
