Goldfish somehow lost an eye?!!

When I woke up I went downstairs and My goldfish squishy is missing an eye?! What do I even do??? The water parameters are good, ammonia and nitrites are at 0 and nitrates are low. She is acting fine and looks healthy, besides the fact that she has one eye!! I have no idea how this happened. Is it possible one of my bigger (8 inch) goldfish missed during feeding time and somehow tore off her eye???? Will she be ok????

It’s definitely because of the larger fish, it should be okay I would personally treat it for infection and if you can, permanently separate them. The large goldfish could outcompete the smaller goldfish in the future. I’m sorry to hear your buddy got hurt

Being a goldfish tank i imagine there isn't a lot to bump into. So yeah, maybe some accidental fish incident.

I am sure i don't have to remind you to keep the water clean to help keep infection away.

I’ll be doing daily 50% water changes for the next week or so to prevent infection. Unfortunately separating isn’t an option. They’ve been together for about 3 months without any issues so I’m just surprised that this happened now.

Can you incorporate a divider? Or hand feed? The goldfish just lost half of its vision so it can be harder for it to compete for food

Considering the fact that it’s still eating easily and acting normal I don’t think that’s necessary. She’s also growing very fast, and within the next few month she’ll probably be double the size she is now.

She should be fine with one eye, you might just have to baby her a little bit. Probably some freak accident if there were no other symptoms. Just make sure it doesn't get infected.

I can’t do a water change until tonight, is it ok to wait a few hours before I do a water change? I would do it sooner, but unfortunately I have some other stuff I have to do.

Update: She’s doing great! She’s now swimming just as actively as before, and All the redness by her eye is gone! She doesn’t seem to be affected by her lack of an eye, so that’s really good!
For comparison: The first pic is the day she lost here eye and the other pic is from today. They aren’t great quality pics, because she’s super fast, but I’d definitely prefer fast movement to being slow and inactive, because it’s a signs she’s doing well

Glad she’s doing better, and she’s a beautiful fish. Its weird how an eye just disappears
