    Tank

What is the water volume of the tank?
    29 gallons
How long has the tank been running?
April 5, so almost 5 months
    Does it have a filter?
Yes, Penn Plax Cascade 700 canister
    Does it have a heater?
    Yes, Aqueon Submersible
    What is the water temperature?
    76F
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.)
    2 oranda goldfish

    Maintenance
How often do you change the water?
Usually every Wednesday. Here lately, the past month or so has been stretched to more like every 1.5 to 2 weeks.
How much of the water do you change?
    75-90%
What do you use to treat your water?
    Seachem Prime
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the
    water?
Yes, full vacuum every water change.

    *Parameters - Very Important
Did you cycle your tank before adding fish?
Actually moved this cycled filter from another tank to this one at setup.
What do you use to test the water?
    API Master Freshwater Kit
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

    Ammonia: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Nitrate: 5
pH: I have a really hard time with this test. Always seems to be somewhere around 6.8-7.6
The ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings are from two days ago when symptoms started.

    Feeding
How often do you feed your fish?
    1-2 times daily
How much do you feed your fish?
Depends on what I'm feeding, but they always finish it.
What brand of food do you feed your fish?
    Omega One mostly
Do you feed frozen or freeze-dried foods?
Sinking pellets and occasionally frozen bloodworms or emerald entree.

    Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish?
March 20, so once again right at 5 months.
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms?
    Two days ago.
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms?
Very lethargic, sitting on the bottom, not very much appetite
Have you started any treatment for the illness?
I dosed Prazipro and a dose of Kanaplex two days ago.
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase?
    No
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all?
Just very lethargic and not much appetite. Exact opposite of what this fish usually is.

Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)
Pretty much already given everything. This fish is usually the super active one. Two days ago he was just sitting on the bottom moving his mouth around like they both always do. He still eats but not as much. I'm wondering if his wen may be decreasing his activity dye to impaired vision, because just here lately it has started to cover his eyes. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PS- This tank is due for a water change tomorrow, and this did happen after two big water changes back to back 12 hours apart. I've kept an eye on the cycle though, which hasn't shown a crash.

So you both think impaired vision may be catching up with him too?

Now....how exactly do I do this? Not going to lie the thought makes me kind of nervous.

you'll need clove oil to anethesia, then sharp scapel or trimming scissors, alcohol or H2O2 to disinfect, air pump w/ airstone to revive after trimming.

@TheeLadyG might be able to give you a few extra tips.

here's a few how to videos

Okay guys, so after watching probably 10 videos, and reading 3 articles I worked up the guts to trim Smudge's wen. It really wasn't that bad. From taking him out of tank to putting him in the reviving tank took 18 minutes. Waking up took about 5, and after 15 minutes of him moving around good, I put him back home.

Pictures of his peepers....(Wish I would have taken before pictures, but I was trying to be quick.)

I did better on this side even if it does look sloppy. First time though...

Not as good on this side. I did accidentally nick him a bit, so will have to keep an extra close eye on that. Also wish I would have taken a bit more off, but hindsight is always 20/20. I'm sure I'll have to do this again one day, so I'll get it then.

Had to take a picture real quick of waiting for a fish to wake up for comic relief.

He's already showing much more activity, and eating like the little pig he is. That's nice to see after him only eating a couple pellets the past couple of days. Definitely going to be watching him closely to see if this puts him back right, and for possible infection.

    Thanks for all the help!
