Goldfish Farting?

I've been noticing my 8 inch common goldfish has been sitting on the bottom a lot lately. His appetite is normal, greets me like always. Today my fiance and I happened to look at the tank at the same time and he was pooping and what looked like farting... he was losing a lot of gases from the same hole, then immediately he went to the bottom. Giving him a closer look it seems like he has to "work" to stay up. Should I be concerned any ideas what's going on here? Trusty Google said fish don't fart.

 

He may have a swim bladder issue, which is an organ that helps them stabilize their body.

 

Is sounds like something wrong with his swim bladder like Fishy McGee said if he is struggling to swim

 

I'm really sorry about your fish but all I could think of was my kids attempting to blame the fish for the fart.

It does sound like a swim bladder problem.

 

What do I do to fix a swim bladder issue like this?

 

Feed some blanched, deshelled, unseasoned peas as the only meal for three days, or try fasting your fish for three days.
