Goldfish Bump Underneath Scales

HI I began seeing this brown bump on my goldfish’s (I think it’s a ryukin about 1yr old now) side the previous night ? He/she swims fine and eats eagerly and I haven’t noticed any change in behavior. However I feel concerned for it and their scales are slightly raised in that area. I do regular weekly water changes with good water parameters. Is this the beginning of an ulcer or is it a tumor? If so, how can I treat it? Also I’m thinking it’s a girl because it hasn’t shown any breeding stars yet but is it’s belly a bit too big and bloated? This is my first time keeping a ryukin so I am not sure.... any help would be great thanks !

(Also posted this on the goldfish forum but I’ve gotten no replies/help I really love this fish and would be devastated if they died or is continuously suffering)

I’m sorry to say this but it does look like a tumor... and I’m not positive but I don’t think it’s treatable...and if it is I don’t know what to advise to do.... but could also be an abscess or something... I’m not too familiar with goldfish but I know a little... and those would be my thoughts...

Looks like it could be the beginning of a tumour or some sort of ulcer? She does seem bit bloated.
Since your fish is acting normal I would just keep an eye on her and keep your water clean. Maybe add some mild antI bacterial medication like melafix if it is an ulcer. I would also consider adding some Epsom salts as that will alleviate some of the bloating in your fish

If things don't improve would possibly use an internal bacterial medication since that could be an underlying cause but such treatment is stressful and I would use it as a last resort, especially since if its a tumour the medication won't do anything.

One of my goldies developed grey/brown tumours all over his body. They didn't seem to bother him apart from being slightly unsightly. I would just wait and see how it progresses and if your fish's behaviour changes.

Hope this helps

HI everyone thanks for your replies!

My introduction post kind of also became a help post too in the end haha and I just posted an update on it

HI There !

Fawkes21 thank you for your input and I’m sorry about your fish, I’m glad your goldfish doesn’t mind and is still okay ! I went out and bought some hydrogen peroxide and tripped antibiotics (like neosporin) and definitely going to use an epsom salt bath if the bloating comes back. However I just ended up just using aquarium salt and a good water change and things have improved since then ! But def going to keep your input in mind just in case it is those things
