Goldfish Breed?

So I am a bad fish mom and I completely forgot what I bought my goldfish Mila as. I was looking up breeds and can't really find anything spot on similar. She is about 3 inches now so not sure if her shape is her "adult" shape. Fat short body. Any idea what she is? Thanks in advance!

Side note: her shape isn't special to her I bought her in huge tank of similar bodied goldfish.

Fantail. Coloration tells me it might be a Shubunkin. Nice fish.

Even tho she has such a short body? I thought most shubunkin have longer profiles? Definitely am not an expert so any education is absolutely appreciated.

Sorry, I meant to say calico, or it could be nacreous-scaled too. I said Shubunkin since that’s the first type of goldfish that comes to mind when I see three different scale colors.

Shubunkin’s are single tailed. It’s a calico.

I thought calico is just a color? She is more humped than my fan tails - maybe young ryunkin

That's what I thought. Goldfish are confusing lol

It is. I corrected myself earlier. I said Shubunkin, because that is the first goldfish that comes to mind when I think of calico or nacreous-scaled goldfish.

It looks to be a Fantail, not a Ryukin. I can see why it looks Ryukin-like. They look very similar. Perhaps you’re right that it might be a Ryukin that has yet to fully develop.

Or just a non-show quality one? Or mix with fan tail? The dorsal fin is also really small.. but might grow

Perhaps, but I’m not exactly well-versed in these things. I remember reading about the standards of Chinese Ryukins being different from their Japanese counterpart. I don’t want to exactly say what those are, since it’s been a while, but I think it had to do with the severity of the hump. Maybe every country has their own individual standards.

The pictures below are my two Tamasabas. These are older photos of them while they were still young. You can see even then the humps are very pronounced and obvious, and their bodies are shorter and rounder, more circular, resulting in their distended-looking bellies when compared to the OP’s goldfish pictured. Also note the pointy faces, almost like a beak. When I think of good quality Ryukins, I think of these characteristics. But again, I’m simply a hobbyist. The point is, the goldfish being questioned here looks like a Fantail, when I compare it to my own fish and when I look at other Ryukins being sold at fish stores.

It can be. People think Tamasabas are simply single-tailed Ryukins or culls; they’re not. It’s a different variety bred by koi breeders in Nigata, Japan. Single-tailed Ryukins are actually called by a different name: Tamaryus.

You could argue that its a low quality ryukin - especially if you know its ancestry - but I'd just call it a fantail.

I have a "not show quality" calico fantail with beautiful color but imperfect body... and some kinda mutt telescope eye/pompon/fantail...thing... with a dark copper/chocolate/purple...ish(?) color. Her tail is completely attached at the top, even, haha... my "black moor" baby ended up nooot quite what I expected. XD The color on my calico has been shifting... a black spot appearing here... disappearing there... it's fun to watch.

My fish are similar in size to yours and I'm wondering how much/if the shape will change or the fins will get longer/different also. I can tell you my Telescope Mutt has changed a LOT since I brought her home... much longer fins, surprise pompoms, nice fat body that is almost as wide as her eyes now! My calico has changed less in the body. I guess time will tell!

If I was guessing , I would say it looks like a cross between a Shubunkin and a Fantail. I have 2 (very beautiful, stunning, show-fish-stock but very different looking) Shubunkins, 1 Sarasa Comet, and 1 "Common" Fantail. Your fish looks like I took the body of my Fantail and put in some of the Shubunkin colorations.

I actually have hoped that some combination of my fishes breed because they're all (In my humblest opinions) great looking fish, so I'd love to see the combinations that occur. Sometimes puppies with different-breeded parents come out looking *amazing* from the crossing, so maybe the same with fishes! Lol.
