55 Gallon Tank Goldfish bottom sitting in corner

I have had my ryukin goldfish for about a year now. I moved him into a 55 gal tank about a month ago because I am looking to get him a friend, but over the past week he has been acting strange. He started having a floating issue, which he had before when I fed him pellet food, but hasn't had since I switched foods. I thought he was maybe constipated, so I fed him some peas and the problem went away overnight.

But now he is sitting on the bottom of his tank with his face in the corner. He will get up and swim around every once in a while, but he has mostly just been sitting. I checked the water chemistry and my ammonia and nitrite levels are still at 0 and the temperature is the same as it always is (70-71 F). He doesn't have any spots or anything on his scales, so I don't know what this could be?

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Is there something I can do or check?

As to the second part of your comment, I am having the same issue with my Oranda. He is just laying in the corner and occasionally swimming around. He is very healthy as far as I can tell. I am wondering if this has something to do with a fish's form of "hibernation" since it is getting to the colder season. But don't take anything from me. I just saw your post right before I was going to post something about the same problem.

doubt its the seasons changing, my goldfish in both the inside tank and outside patio pond act the same year round.

how long was he in the old tank? how did he act in the new tank before he got sbd?

He was in the old tank for about 7 months. He was acting normally and exploring before this.

I just did a partial water change, just in case there's something about the water my test didn't catch.

Following this thread in case you get answers. I’m having the same issue with one of my girls and can’t figure out what’s wrong. Her fins aren’t clamped and she’s not visibly sick, just like you stated.

Ok, so I added two tablespoons of aquarium salt and some Herbtana to the water as well. Since doing that and the water change, he has perked right up and is swimming normally. I'm going to keep an eye on him in case he gets floaty or starts sitting again.
