60 Gallon Tank Goldfish acting weird?

I have a 60 gallon with the marineland 360 canister filter, a few plants, (java fern, Anubias), 3 fancy goldfish, (1 fantail, 1 calico and a black moor).

API Freshwater Master Test kit
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
PH 8.0
Substrate is white sand
25% Water change weekly
Seachem Prime for my water conditioner
Plant fertilizers: Seachem trace and Leafzone

So what I've noticed is that the black moor has been sitting on the sand just still there. His fins aren't clamped or see any signs of disease. He just simply sits there, I never seen that kind of behavior before. I think they should be moving most of the time if I'm not mistaken. When I get close to the tank to check him he just gets up and starts swimming like nothing happened. I'm worried about him, I don't think that's normal behavior for a goldfish. I get paranoid with the water parameters and been testing it everyday but I get the same readings as I mentioned above. The calico one does it sometimes too but it seems as if it's normal for him because he swims all over the place and stops in a corner to just float still there. No signs of disease or clamped fins either. I noticed he does that too when I shut off the filter to clean the tank. I feed them once a day with flakes (bug bites). I hope it isn't something bad...

If there is one thing I've found that is a clear indication that something is bugging your fish, it's holding still for long periods of time. Keep doing observations and look for stuff like flashing or red gills or gasping.

Something you might not have thought of to check, is the outflow from your canister filter. If there is a lot of water flow and they don't have a lot of places to hide from it, the flow can tire your fish out. Fancy goldfish have fins like kites and catch a lot of current! I altered mine so that it points straight down (I used an "intake" bend on the output end) and it 'blows' into a little glass bowl, which diffuses the flow and I put a fake plant in front of it to diffuse the flow further. If your fish have to fight a current all the time they might just be getting tired!

Also, be super mindful of the intake... it can suck up a fancy fin or a bulgy eyeball. Don't learn it the hard way I made a cover sleeve for mine from coarse filter sponge sewn together with fishing line. Works great! (also it keeps big gunk from getting sucked into the filter... just make sure you rinse it now and again)

Thanks for the reply! I haven't thought about the filter part, at least in regards to the gills or gasping, I would watch them for those things but I wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary other than staying still on the sand or in a corner...

Sometimes I would leave and come back after 10 minutes and I would see them swim all around the tank like nothing happened! They get me too worried which I still am. The black moor is still doing it. Not sure if they have trouble with the flow of the filter, I usually see them swimming around there without difficulty. The tank is fairly high, not sure what else could be causing this

Honestly, I feel like they could just be resting. My three do this as well, but I am nowhere near the experience level with goldfish as TheeLadyG. I have 3 fancies in a 45 gallon and sometimes one or two at a time will just go down in the front corner farthest from the filter and just sit on the sand. Like yours, fins are out and breathing is normal, and after a moment or two the third will come and bumble into them and then all three swim off together. The one who sits the most is my fantail with the flattest/widest tail, and the one who sits the least is the ryukin, whose tail is quite upright. I'm thinking he probably gets more movement for the same effort as the flat-tailed one. Like you, I worry about them but come feeding time everyone seems right as rain so I have just about chalked it up to resting.

Same here. I have a fancy and a common and occasional ill catch them resting on the bottom.

I'll keep watching them just in case, thanks for all the inputs! I feel a little better hearing others' experiences. I'll be testing the water frecuently also and continue doing the weekly water changes.
