Gold gouramis no longer friends

I have two female gold gouramis that have been together in a community tank for a year or so since the male gold died. They have always chased each other a bit but now one is permanently in the corner behind the plants except for feeding time. I have had aggression between male gouramis to this extent but I haven't had female gouramis like this before. They are both getting on a bit and I have decided not to add another male so I may just seperate them for the rest of their days.
I have decided when I replace them to try less aggressive gouramis, what gouramis have you kept? What gourami specie's live together happily, I'm looking for a new centerpiece fish, I may abandon gouramis completely and try something completely different.

Hi, I've kept a few.
The least aggressive has to be the Honey Gourami. While they definitely can show a nasty side for the most part they are fairly harmless to each other, which goes for the males too.

After that all are very capable of doing significant damage to each other but are better off in a group, aim for 4 or so with 1 male.
Thick Lips, Banded's, Pearls and and Moonlights are probably the next level of aggression. You're not likely to have issues with them but they can certainly arise.

I think a nice group of Moonlights would be a good idea, a group of 5 or so in a dimly lit tank makes for a very nice setup.

The gourami guru has spoken, but for other options, what is the tank size? Hate to suggest something either too little or too small.

I have kept honeys in the past but they are a little small to be centerpiece fish in a large tank.
I was looking at moonlights in my local shop, they are definitely a possibility.

The tank is 120G. Other occupants are 9 giant danios, a selection of mollies ( about 12 adults and a lot of fry ) , 1 common pleco ( 12 inches ), 7 pinstripe butterfly plecs and an unknown number of assassin snails ( 6 at the last count but new ones keep appearing ). No salt, pH 7.5, GH 6, KH 5 and temperature of 25C.

120g? You can almost anything you want in there. If you like schooling fish, a group of rainbows is hard to beat, and large enough to really not need a centerpiece. If you like big and personable, a blood parrot will work. I have a pair that ignore smaller tetras and would have no issues with mollies, but fry would be another matter. I'll defer the gouramis to jinjer but even angelfish, possibly an electric blue acara would be an option. So many possibilities.

The fry aren't really an issue, I mostly scoop them out and give them to a friend as feeders. I just keep the odd one to replace my adults when they die.

I'm a big fan of pearl gouramis, and you have room for a nice sized group of them.
