Gold barb with bloat?

TheFishFella

Hey there! I was wondering if anyone knew what my gold barb may have (left one in photo)? At first I thought the fish might be pregnant, but I’m pretty sure he is male. Could he just be eating to much, or should I treat him for something? He’s housed in a 10 gallon with 2 other barbs, 2 goldfish (they’re going into a 50 gallon soon), and 1 Julii Cory catfish (getting more once the goldfish are moved). I usually do a 50% water change twice a week, but at the moment I’m doing a 25% water change every day along with a dose of ich X and Maracyn Oxy since one of the goldfish is new to the tank (and I don’t have a quarantine tank) on top of the 50% twice a week. From what I’m aware of I don’t see any pineconing of the scales, and he’s been like this for a while.

Looks like a female to me. If it's still eating there shouldn't be a problem.

Oh really?? Yeah she’s been eating fine, but she’s been like this for a month or so. Is she just chunky?

Healthy, gravid female gold barbs are pleasantly plump. They’re a very hardy species, seldom fall ill & usually live a long time.
