Ive never left my fish for a week ... is Eheim the best auto-feeder? I assume I should do a sizable water change before I go? What else do I need to know/do? Thanks!

What species of fish? Most fish will be just fine for a week w/o food. I usually just do a water change before vacation then they’re left to fend for themselves. So far everything has been fine when I come back.

I can agree with that. Auto feeders are rarely necessary. Big water change before you go, keep sunlight out of the tank while you're gone to stop algae build up. Feed 3 times (small meals) the day before you leave and you're good!

Thanks all! I have little guys: green neons, a honey gourami, endlers, and rcs. I'll try the auto feeder but I hope it can feed as little as I need.

I have an auto feeder just to make sure there is a little food in there, but do like everyone else said above. The important part is doing a water change a day before you leave.
