Going On Holiday!

So... I am going on holiday tomorrow afternoon and I am slightly nervous about leaving my fish with my relatives. This is my first ever holiday away from my fish, so I was wondering if anyone has any tips or past experiences? I love watching Joey and Rachel on YouTube and I have watched some of their videos on what you should do before going on holiday, like feeding them heavily before and light while you are away. That is something that I have done; fed them a lot the past week or so.
I literally trust nobody around my fish, not since my sister killed my goldfish the day after we got out first ones when I was seven... So because of this I have left out strict instructions on my coffee table along with the food for all of my tanks all bagged up and ready to just be cut opened and poured in.

Because I am am worried I want to know if anyone on this forum has had any bad or good experiences while being away (I will be away for 10 days) and if there are any tips for in the future.

P.S. I will be doing a large water change tomorrow morning before I go and then a huge one when I am back

Do a water change. Have them flip the lights on and off. Feeding, unless you have fry, is mostly optional.

I lost 10 gallons of water out of a 40 gallon tank once. The filter leaked. Fortunately, I had an empty 20 long sitting underneath the tank stand and it caught all the water.

I would say checking the filters are running would be an important fish sitting task. A quick tutorial on how yours work would be a good idea.

I'm going on vacation too, on Saturday!
Never had a bad experience, but I actually haven't been away from my main tank before.

Are the rules like this?
"Feed one baggie per day. Only one serving, and DO NOT overfeed!"

Yeah fish can usually go 2 or 3 weeks without food if they have to, depending on the fish

If you don't have anyone you trust to take care of your fish properly, I would just let your fish go without food for those 10 days. They'll be fine.

During my water change I gave all of my filters a good clean and made sure that they are in working order.

Cool! And yes that is literally what I have done. I have 10 bags lined up for each tank and the instructions say to only cut open and feed the ones with the days date on.

I have a small amount of food in each bag, less than I would feed on a normal bases. And that is once a day.

That they are working now is great. But if there is a power interruption or someone kicks a cord out, or the impeller jams because a snail decides to climb into it or it vibrates loose, because sometimes they just do, are all things you could deal with, but might freak out a petsitter. A concise list of things to check if the filter packs it in can save a lot of grief.

Hide the rest of the food. Preferably lock it up.

Have them check for dead fish every day and leave a net with instructions to remove immediately if so. They might assume it will just get eaten by the others rather than poisoning the entire tank.
